Enhanced automation for waste water plants
Engineer modifies operating point
Controlling of waste water plants is usually computer-assisted. It is possible to regulate major components like pumps and blowers as well as tiny elements such like valves. Thanks to modern fieldbus connections and smart control cabinets highest process automation can be achieved.
Associated program sequences are often designed to match the maximum requirements. Hence the needed treatment capacity is ensured at all time. Yet, daily operation shows that these situations constitute an exception. Energy intensive processes are performed above the economical optimum.
By adapting the program sequences the overall process can be improved by 10 - 15 % in terms of energy efficiency. Operation costs are saved and carbon footprint is reduced as well. Capital expenditure is marginal since changes in electro-mechanical equipment are usually not necessary.
