Strong partner in water treatment

5 November 2009 - With the merger of ELGA Berkefeld GmbH and Krüger WABAG GmbH, the organisational integration which has already been carried out has now been legally finalised. Under the name VWS Deutschland GmbH one of the leading suppliers of water treatment systems in Germany has formed. The brands Berkefeld, Krüger WABAG and ELGA will still be used in the respective markets. The company is part of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies, its head office is Celle, further sites are Zwenkau and Bayreuth.

„We want to simplify and accelerate the decision making processes and working routines", says Ulrich Jauss, Managing Director, like Dr. Ian R. Stewart and Wolfgang Eggert. The new legal name VWS Deutschland GmbH emphasises that the company is part of Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies, the water technology unit of Veolia, with 8,900 employees worldwide and revenues of 2.5 billion Euro. In Germany the company will continue using the renowned brands Berkefeld, Krüger WABAG and ELGA under the umbrella of the corporate name VWS Deutschland GmbH. Berkefeld, established in Celle in 1892, stands for reliable technology for treatment of drinking- and process water for industrial and domestic applications. Krüger WABAG, originated from the German activities of WABAG, founded in Wroclaw in 1924, has its main focus in municipal drinking- and waste water treatment. ELGA, founded by Walter Lorch in 1937, is today the global brand for ultra-pure water treatment for laboratories and medical devices. At the sites in Germany, more than 400 people are employed, thereof are 30 sales engineers and more than 50 service technicians nation-wide.

Not part of the legal entity VWS Deutschland GmbH, but also part of the water technology branch of Veolia, are Aquantis GmbH in Ratingen, within Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies worldwide specialised membrane technology and in Germany offering industrial waste water treatment, Gütling GmbH in Fellbach and in Zwenkau with main focus on evaporation and waste water treatment and recycling for the metal processing industry, and RWO GmbH in Bremen, one of the leading manufacturers of water treatment systems for ships and offshore platforms.
